This is page two of my Life Book. Our assignment was two identify two goddesses who portray our qualities. (January is the month of the goddess.) I made my page a foldout page on 140 lb watercolor paper.

Gaia is on the outside of a foldout page because she is my "outer personality" and when opened, Fauna is on the inside as my "inner personality." Then light in the darkness on the back side of the front page where I will write my description. Fauna was sourced by the wonderful artwork of Katrina Sesum.

Life Book Page 1 - Inner Muse

I'm participating in a second year long online art class called Life Book. (See button at the bottom right.) In this course, we receive two or three assignments each month and create a large page from hot press watercolor paper. At the end of the year all the pages will be assembled into a book. Our first assignment was to make a page with a flap that folded over and then to draw a woman - a goddess. We were then to list all our goddess-like qualities at the side, under the flap. Here is my goddess, the Muse.

I've been working on my Book of Days. Here is my year entry. Her neck piece is the label off the sparkling wine with which we toasted in the new year.

2012 will be a year of art & play!

My plan is to work less and play more. I have signed up for four online courses. Three are year long courses and they all begin tomorrow. My word for the year is "presence" and my goal is to be more mindful, savoring whatever comes along. 


I would like to keep up with the art courses that I have committed to but I mainly want to enjoy every art experience as it comes. Here is the altered book I created for the Book of Days course (button on the right).

This is the inside cover. I still need to finish the two tags and I just realized that I need redo the labels because I've put the years on the wrong ones! *face palm*
